I just learned of Gwen’s passing on to Heaven. I will miss her dearly. I would have loved for my grandmother to have met her. Her cookies, her stories and her love for her family is a legacy worth striving for! Best wishes and prayers to the family here and abroad. Keep her story alive.

This place is such a little gem! The service is great and there is so much to see. Everyone was so kind and helpful to us. They have a great selection of Swedish candy and treats as well as some beautiful art for sale upstairs. I left super happy with my purchases and will be back!

Loved this Swedish /Norwegian store! So charming with a lot of amazing gift and food options. Owner is such a delight! Very traditional and reminded me a lot of my own Grandma who is from Stockholm and had a lot of similar items in her own house. Will be back!

Such a lovely Scandinavian market! There is a little bit of everything. I hope to return frequently now that I know it exists! I couldn't help leaving with some good chocolate, sour gummies and tasty licorice!

You must visit the Wooden Spoon in Plano! The entire time we were there, we felt like we were in Scandinavia! The owner showed us how to make a wish with the cookies there. The punch was great as well! If any school project requires photos or items from Scandinavia (Sweeden, Denmark, and Norway), the Wooden Spoon is your good to place! There is everything from books to t-shirts to jewelry. The Wooden Spoon has an area upstairs for parties or meetings. You will find jellies, soft drinks, and adult beverages.

Gwen Saved Christmas Dinner I cannot say enough good things about Gwen Welk Workman and The Wooden Spoon Scandinavian Shop in Plano, Texas. Gwen truly saved Christmas dinner. When we lived in Dallas, we used to stop by the shop in person all the time—it’s hands down the cutest Scandinavian shop in the world, and Gwen’s warmth and customer service were always part of the experience. After we moved away, I’ve been searching everywhere for a reliable place to order lingonberry preserves, and it was surprisingly difficult. A few shops would ship, but delivery timelines were close to two weeks, and anything that could arrive within 7–10 days came with shipping costs of $60 or more. Then I turned to Gwen’s online shop, and it was a complete relief. She carries a huge variety of Scandinavian goods, including several brands of lingonberry preserves, and my order shipped the very next morning for just $8. It absolutely saved our Christmas dinner. Even though we no longer live nearby, it’s so reassuring to know that Gwen’s same charm, care, and exceptional customer service shine through just as clearly when ordering online as they always did in person. Thank you so much, Gwen, for continuing to be such a reliable source for all of our Scandinavian specialty needs.
